60 Nights of Horror 2022 # 9: Maniac

This is a placeholder for when I slam through this fucking gem of a movie with a proper review. It’s so much better than it looks. I knew nothing about it save for that it had a schlocky reputation, and yet it left me with chills.

I’ve had a rather adventurous life as a sex worker and model and the world is filled with predators. I have permanent scars on my body and spirit from things that happened to me in similar situations as the ones that happen in this movie, so when I saw it for the first time, fairly recently I might add, it was like driving a monster truck right through the bricks of my memory palace. It’s a traumatic film, and I think if more people suspended their disbelief that there really are people out there like this, it would be remembered as less of a camp classic than it is. It’s not a problem, I just think if I watched it while people laughed, I wouldn’t have a good time.
